Privacy policy for CookMate
CookMate (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) provides a private, distraction-free environment for recipe collection, meal planning, and grocery tracking. We respect your culinary habits and personal dietary records.
1. Sovereign culinary data and recipes
CookMate stores your custom recipes, imported culinary instructions, ingredient notes, and cooking ratings directly on your device in a local database. We do not maintain commercial data-mining pipelines or sell your dietary data to food manufacturers, retail advertisers, or insurance brokers.
2. Recipe extraction and URL parsing
- URL processing: When you import a recipe via web URL, the link is processed to extract structured metadata (schema.org/Recipe JSON-LD or semantic HTML). Processing occurs locally on-device or via secure ephemeral parsers.
- Zero URL logging: We do not track, log, or profile the browsing history or recipe websites you visit.
3. Meal planning, dietary records, and pantry inventory
- Dietary preferences: Allergy flags, dietary restrictions (e.g. gluten-free, vegan, kosher), and caloric notes are stored locally on your device.
- Pantry and groceries: Shopping lists, pantry inventory levels, and purchase histories remain strictly confidential and are never monetised.
4. Voice permissions and hands-free kitchen assistant mode
- On-device speech recognition: If you enable hands-free kitchen assistant mode to advance steps by voice, audio is processed using your mobile operating system’s native on-device speech engine (such as Apple Speech framework or Android on-device speech recogniser).
- Zero audio recording: No ambient kitchen audio or spoken commands are recorded, transmitted to our servers, or stored.
5. Third-party trackers and advertising exclusion
CookMate does not contain commercial advertising trackers, third-party analytics pixels, or ad networks. You cook without interruption and without surveillance.
6. Data retention, backup, and complete erasure
- Data export: You can export your entire recipe collection and meal calendar at any time in open JSON or Markdown formats via Settings > Import & Export.
- Data deletion: You can permanently delete all recipes, meal plans, and grocery inventories at any time by clearing app data in your device settings or uninstalling the app.
